I created this page to connect with people and to share more about my experiences traveling and living in South Africa this summer. It was important to me that I provide context for the places and people I'll be collaborating with. I hope this can be a starting place for conversation and collaboration. Mind mapping is a favorite hobby of mine and I strive to keep an open mind so the name made sense to me.

Global Partners in Care (GPIC) is the organization that facilitates the internship I am a part of and that connected me with Sunflower (see next question). They support palliative care around the world by coordinating partnerships between hospices in the US and in other parts of the world, advocating for palliative care at a global level, and running education programs like the global health internship.
Sunflower Children's Hospice provides inpatient and community based palliative care services for children in Free State, South Africa. The organization was the first children's hospice in South Africa (and likely on the continent) 27 years ago during the AIDS pandemic. They aim to support children with life limiting illnesses beginning at the time of diagnosis.
